One of the challenges in the field of endoscopic devices is reducing the quality of the video recorded by the device’s camera in the environmental conditions inside the body. When the camera of the endoscopic device enters the human body, usually due to the temperature and humidity conditions inside the body, the quality of the endoscopic video decreases. In such cases, the existence of an endoscopic video improvement system can be very helpful. Also, in many cases, by changing the color components of the endoscopic video, abnormalities in the patient’s body such as tumors and other lesions can be observed and diagnosed with much better contrast.
So far, various devices have been presented to improve and enhance endoscopic video, which has implemented video enhancement operations in hardware (using special filters) or software, or a combination of both. Among the most important technologies in this field, FICE, I-scan, SPIES, TRI-scan, and NBI can be mentioned. Among these, I-scan, TRI-scan, and SPIES implement video enhancement without using any hardware filter. Each of these technologies has different modalities that are used according to the type of endoscopic or laparoscopic process, as well as according to the type of target organ.
ESE (Endoscopy Stream Enhancer) software has been developed to improve endoscopy device video. All three technologies I-scan, TRI-scan, and SPIES have been implemented in this software and all their modalities can be selected and performed. In addition, another upgrade method designed and implemented by Sinatoos technology unit called SINA with three different modalities is implemented in this software and can be used. Video enhancement is done by this software for all modalities in real-time.
